DOWN trades have always been at a Like Value ratio that's lower than 1:1.It matters not at all that TE is a saddle point. We routinely trade with Like Value ratios lower than 1:1 whenever we need goods from an earlier era. You can do the math yourself, or use the web page to get the calculated quanties for ALL possible Like Value trades, both up and down, for any era, limited only by the 2:1 through 1:2 range of allowed ratios. It is a simple oversight, like a typo that can easily be fixed.Ĭlick to expand.I'm pretty sure that I understand Like Value trading ratios AT LEAST as well as you think you do. The increase will be a negligible to those producing them (supply/coin are not in short supply for those at the top level). The trade ratios for FE goods can easily be fixed by raising the supply/coin cost to build them. Do you change the fair trade ratios already accepted between the rest of the ages by including your new people/good factor? Or do you leave them as they are and only adjust the ratios for future goods?īut no one needs to bother with all that. Any change that necessitates changing the basis will open up a can of worms. We know it is an imperfect solution to the problem of how to get agreement worldwide on which "just a ratio" is considered fair. Traders in this game, of course, realize that the fair trade calculator just provides a lower limit to what is considered a fair rate when trading up. For example, you must have some way of adjusting the "just a ratio" based on new factors like the number of people/good produced. When that limit goes below 1.0, as it stands now for Future goods, then the basis of the fair trade calculator must change - and that means get more complicated. If you do not understand the importance of having a limit on the minimum amount of goods you must offer when trading up, then I'd suggest you talk to someone who is responsible for enforcing fair trade on the trade board at a large guild. It may be "just a ratio" but it has a basis in the cost of goods in coin/supply.
